Press release
Under the sky of Paris, 3 Scandinavian designers have decided to join their talents and show their collections under the name of SHOWROOM SCANDINAVE.
These 2 Finnish and 1 Norwegian designers living in Paris since quite a few years have been meeting regularly in the various fashion fairs running in March and October.
Men’s wear and women’s wear completed with fashion accessories concerning Anna Ruohonen and Julie Skarland, fabric designs declined into fashion accessories, household linen or bed linen concerning Johanna Gullichsen ; their collections are complementary preserving “the Scandinavian spirit” as a unifying thread The 3 designers joined their forces in order to make buyers and the press an original offer, focusing on the influence and sources of inspiration they have in common; the creativity of northern Europe. Created out of a wish for a more intimate and informal forum, the SHOWROOM SCANDINAVE takes place at a different location each season, often depending on the hospitality of friends opening their homes for the purpose.
This 4th edition is celebrated with a fashion show at the Institut Finlandais 60 rue des Ecoles, 75005 Paris.
Anna Ruohonen
When an urban spirit takes hold of clothing and plays with the traditional character codes, it is fashion by Anna Ruohonen. Mixing up the genres, making up humoristic diversions but always respecting comfort and elegance, Anna Ruohonen’s collections reveal what is contemporary by dressing up in the colours and lights of Finnish nature.
Johanna Gullichsen
The Finnish graphic universe is expressed in the fabrics made of natural fibres and manufactured in Finland. Fabric designer above all, Johanna Gullichsen has the knack to decline her fabrics in fashion accessories, household linen, furnishing fabrics and also in collections of bathrobes, “leisure wear” or small furniture that she creates. Johanna Gullichsen also likes to offer and defend the design of her native country in an atmosphere of Nordic beauty of which her shop in Paris, at 74, rue du Cherche-Midi, testifies.
Julie Skarland
Norway straight out of the fairy tales, dreamed and exalted, that is the backdrop of Julie Skarland who lives in Paris since more than 10 years. In her atelier/shop at 49, rue Condorcet in Paris, the clear-cut contrasts of colours and textures, the amusing loans from Norwegian folklore and traditional clothing, combined by her abundant creativity are astonishingly modern.
